The Fishers Police Department is investigating a crash that occurred just south of 116th Street on Interstate 69. The crash occurred at approximately 7:00 pm in the southbound lanes. One person was killed in the crash and two people were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
The Hamilton County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team is investigating the crash. Investigators were told that a maroon Chevrolet Monte Carlo was driving north on I-69 in the fast lane. The driver of the Monte Carlo aggressively changed lanes and cut in between two semi tractor trailers that were driving in the center lane. The Monte Carlo crossed through the center lane into the right lane. The front semi did not see the Monte Carlo and began to change into the right lane as well. The Monte Carlo was forced off onto the right shoulder and lost control. The Monte Carlo crossed back across all three lanes on I-69 and struck the concrete median/barrier. The Monte Carlo flipped over the median and struck a silver Toyota Scion that was driving southbound on I-69. A Chevrolet Avalanche that was also traveling south on I-69 was involved and had minor damage.
The male driver of the silver Toyota Scion was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver and the female passenger in the Monte Carlo were transported to Methodist Hospital with serious injuries. The occupants in the Chevrolet Avalanche were not injured.
