The Fishers Police Department arrested Stanley Hardgraves this morning after officers responded to a theft in progress call in the 8900 block of Glass Chimney Lane in Fishers. Hardgraves initially ran from police, but was quickly taken into custody. He is charged with Theft, Resisting Law Enforcement and Unauthorized Entry of a Motor Vehicle.
An alert homeowner called 911 at approximately 4:00 am to report the theft. Instead of confronting the suspect, the homeowner reported the incident, described the suspect and told the dispatcher the suspect’s exact location. As officers arrived, Hardgraves ran north from Glass Chimney Lane but was taken into custody as he tried to climb a backyard fence.
“When neighbors look out for each other, we all benefit,” said Chief George Kehl. “Crime prevention is a partnership with the community and we are very proud of that relationship.” Chief Kehl added.
Officers found stolen property in Hardgraves pockets and in a bag that he dropped while running from police. Four victims have been located and investigators would like to speak with anyone else in the area that may have been the victim of theft.
