  • LC’s speech team wins connersville invitational

    Lawrence Central’s speech team, under the direction of Julie Alexander, took first place in the Varsity division at Connersville’s invitational speech tournament Nov. 3. Trophies were given to the top five teams in Varsity (15 or fewer entries) and to the top five in Super Varsity (15+ entries). With 12 competitors, LC was in the Varsity division.     Fishers High School’s Academic Ambush team captured the regional Spell Bowl competition for the second year in a row scoring a school record 68 points.     The Fishers High School Spell Bowl team dominated the Hoosier Crossroads Conference Spell Bowl meet October 1 at Brownsburg. FHS’s spellers finished first among the ten conference schools for their second consecutive conference title. The team scored on 67 of a possible 90 words. Conference runner-up Zionsville finished with 52 points. High scorers in the meet were Zeke Willey with a perfect score, Alex Smith, Raleigh Daniel, Zach Willey and Yaniv Shmukler.
